In the second half of August, a delegation of four people led by professor HAN Xiaozeng from Hailun Station, Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN), participated in the 11th INTECOL Congress, Ecology: Into the next 100 years, which was held in London as part of the centenary celebrations of the British Ecological Society.

After the Congress, the delegation visited Rothamsted Experimental Station. The station is a well known academic institution and many agricultural scientists look forward to visiting it and try to learn something from it!

Dr. Andy MacDonald, a project leader from Department for Sustainable Soils and Grassland Systems, led the delegation visit the classic long-term experiments, plant and soil sample archives and campus surroundings.

After the visit, Professor Keith Goulding, head of the department, invited the delegation for a lunch. During the lunch, both sicentists discussed interesting researches concerning soil moisture, soil nutrients in farmland ecosystems.

Both sides believed that the visit would promote cooperation in soil science between Rothamsted Research and Hailun Station.
