Professor Senyu Chen from the Department of Plant Pathology of University of Minnesota in USA was invited to visit our institute (Harbin) by Professor Congli Wang, Research Leader of Agricultural Pest Control Group on June 17-18^th, 2015, after Professor Chen visited the branch of Qiqihaer of Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Professor Chen is one of the internationally recognized nematologists. Professor Chen gave a seminar titled as ‘The Soybean Cyst Nematode Host Resistance and Biological Control Studies’ in the meeting room of Harbin district on June 17^th, 2015. He talked about his recent and current research projects in his laboratory, including impact of sources of resistance on virulent phenotypes of the soybean cyst nematode, identify novel SCN-resistant and tolerant soybean lines and genes for breeding SCN-resistant and tolerant cultivars, soil suppression to SCN, cropping system and biological control of SCN. Scientists and students including those from Changchun district attended the seminar and actively communicated with Professor Chen. Then He visited the laboratory and the greenhouse of Agricultural Pest Control Group. Professor Wang introduced the research projects and progress in her laboratory to Professor Chen. He provided some helpful suggestions about some research methods and discussed further collaboration not only in the field of research but also for student education.
